I just picked up an LDG and I am wondering what pickup this is. It sounds good but I’d like to know what it is. Also, will the E66 from my D10 swap into this? Looks the same from where I am sitting Wink

Thanks in advance!

Looks like a Telonics Pickup to me.

Maybe a Tonealigner?

Unless there has been a change, the Tonealigner has a split case. That definitely appears to be Telonics.

Tonealigner (dust added for dramatic effect):

Yep Telonics - there should be a little tag on the side, low down near the base plate, telling you what model it is -- 84, 409 or x10 !!

If your D-10 is equipped with narrow mount pickups, the E-66 should be an easy swap into your LDG.

And possibly a big step backward. Those Telonics are pretty well regarded.

Well I popped it out when I was changing the strings and it looks like the Telonics on the website let but the numbers don’t match up with any models listed: 409-PNT Based on their numbering it’s a 409 model with a Narrow Polymer bade. I’m not sure what the T is for and the model 409 isn’t listed so...

Like I said, it sounds great, but would be interested in knowing what it was intended for. It’s not a super bright high end (which I like) and it’s very warm and full toned.

Here’s a pic of the base and mount. Thanks for your help, I would have never found the website.

Any info on the 409 is appreciated. I’ll search the forum too.

Update: I set this up according to the spec sheet and it is even better than before. Great pickup and I would highly recommend trying it if you get a chance.

Danny these are awesome pickups, I have them in one of my Zum Hybrids and also my MCI Rangexpander welded frame D10 ... once you get them set to your tastes (via the instructions) they are outstanding - I get lots of compliments on my tone so there ya go :-} !!

It’s a fantastic pickup

. If you’re after a really classic Bud sound, in addition to the single coil pickup, I think you need to have a pot pedal and a tube amp. My opinion.

When I was chasing that sound, I found that that was the holy trinity.

Had a cool pro II, through a twin, active pedal. Good, but not quite the sound. Tried a pot pedal , and BAM !! There it was.

I don’t play a Bud, and don’t use a pot pedal, just my observation that for me, I had to have all three to unlock that vintage tone.

Something to think about if your chasing vintage tone. Others likely know way more than me about this. Maybe some of our ShoBud Purists will add an opinion.

Looks like one I sold. Good humbucker. A lot of tweaking. A single coil is a single coil. Can’t fake it. Sorry.

I love a single coil in my ldg
