Arghh! I was hoping when the rumors started yesterday that it was a mistake, but it looks like it's real. One of the finest ever, he was sort of my gateway drug to country music. People talk about authenticity, he had it in spades.
I do his stuff a lot. When I tell people who wrote 'em, they almost always say, incredulously, "You mean that guy that did Polk Salad Annie?" RIP Tony Joe. |

| was really shocked to hear about this. He had just made his Opry debut and sounded amazing as well as released a new album which from what I've heard is really good. He certainly had a unique style. |
