A few years ago I was onstage adjusting my mike stand by loosening the height adjustor when the boom and mike slammed down on the web of my hand between the right thumb and forefinger. Blood began to gush out just seconds before downbeat. I managed to grab a napkin and play. After the first song I went to the kitchen and asked if they had a first aid kit. No first aid kit, no band aids. I managed to soldier on with tissue and duct tape. Now I carry a stash of band aids and I put a rubber spacer just above the mike stand adjustor to avoid that painful event again.
