I cut my finger (left pinky) about 30 seconds before downbeat last night. I had the intro. Played 3 songs before deciding I'd better go get a band-aid for it. Blood all over the fretboard and strings. New strings, too - just put them on a few days ago.

Got it all cleaned up now but wow, what a ride! Had to clean the bar, too. You haven't lived until you've played a bloody pedal steel. Laughing

Sounds like a great beginning for a b- movie vampire flick. Budding directors take note. Glad you could still play b0b.

I should think folks would want to know how you cut your finger?

Oh no, sorry to hear that!

I am using one of those Red Rajah bars, good color for not seeing the blood on it. Oh Well

Kind Regards, Walter

Bummer, b0b.

I briefly played duo with a singer/songwriter/guitar strummer who was telling me about striking a chord during a solo set, tearing his finger open and bleeding all over everything for the rest of his set. I said "oh man, how awful!" and he said "NO!! IT WAS F'IN' AWESOME!!!" I learned that he was a punk rocker at heart and this took him back to his true roots. He went on to be deported back to Newcastle so our act was cut short.

I keep a band-aid in my billfold for times like this, and started when I was a carpenter 40 years ago.

b0b, sorry for your embarrassing incident, but this is statement is funny.
The steel demanded bloody emotion, while being played.

An unstable folding music stand was the culprit. Looking at it later, I discovered that I'd lost a 1/4" chunk of skin. It was still bleeding the next day when I took off the band-aid. Whoa!

That happened to me during my set at the TSGA Jamboree years back. I was adjusting my vocal mic and the counterweight slipped down the boom arm and clipped my left pinky.

I didn't even notice until my strings were getting sticky and I realized my fretboard was covered in blood! I asked the ladies in the front row for a tissue or something and Jean Hughey came up with a band-aid. But the bleeding still wouldn't stop and I had to leave the set early.

John Arnold would remember this episode because he found it hilarious and wrote about it in the TSGA Newsletter

I remember that, and it flashed back in real time. Am I finally entitled to the diamond horseshoe ring? Wink

I now have an adhesive bandage in my pac-a-seat.

It doesn't take up much space and weighs next to nothing.

Couple years ago I was setting up for a gig when the band leader asked if I had a screwdriver. I reached into my tool bag & promptly sliced open my finger on the box cutter I keep in there. Problem was that I was on Warfarin for A-fib at the time, and it wouldn't stop bleeding; all over my steel & Custom Shop Strat, for the entire gig. Finally stopped bleeding , but not after dripping blood all over the place that night.

Hope your are healing up good b0b, And back to Happy Sttelin.
Blood does get very stickey after just a minute or 2 out of our body. Bet your bar and strings was a mess to deal with.

I stabbed my thumb with a string end that I hadn't clipped as close to the peg as I thought. Blood everywhere. I yelled this line to the amusement of the otherwise disgusted listeners.
