Good deal. I own the BX500 power amp. I works great for steel. It really surprised me when I first got it.

That's good news. Many years ago (15?) when we started our gospel group, our entire sound system plus my bass amp was Carvin. Other groups commented how "fantastic" our sound was.

Had 15s for mains, floor 12s for monitors, 12 channel pa / amp with a 150W monitor amp with EQ. My bass amp was a PB100-10. I played a 6 string Washburn bass through it, and could direct feed it to the pa when needed. It handled the bottom end and the highs well.

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus!

Ron, you are right about the BX 500. It was my main amp for about 2 years. It is a very surprisingly good steel amp. Since it is so small, lightweight, and powerful it goes with me all the time as a backup amp. It fits perfectly into the bottom of my gig bag.

Will the new owners support and repair Carvin amps?

I also own a BX500. It is an excellent steel amp.

I sold my BX500 and moved on to Quilter after the demise of Carvin.

There are many versions of the electronics board in this model, e.g. "A", "L", etc but only a schematic available for one version. I ran into that working with their tech's as the one I had would "go through" 12AX7's about every 9 months or so. As it turned out a newer rev of this model addressed the problem (not on the schematic that is/was available). Who knows what else is changed in the different board levels. As SMT (Surface Mount Technology) is used for components on the electronics board special SMT desoldering/soldering workstations are needed.

I couldn't record (mike the speaker) with my BX500 as it was too noisy for recording - but OK for live.

What's not been made clear is where the amplifier line will be made. With the SMT technology they use in their designs combined with the previous liquidation of assets (in Oct 2017) , it would seem virtually impossible for them to be making many - if - any - amps or pro audio gear in the US. The equipment investment would be huge.

No definitive information has been released that I'm aware of - I'm guessing, but financially it would seem they must be having products made overseas. What affect this will have on parts availability, though - especially legacy products - is anybody's guess.

Might want to contact them at their website listed with the press release for clarification, Jim.
