I'm moving to Bradenton and wondered if there are any steel players in the area? Maybe get together sometime and pick or a lesson every now and then or someone I can catch playing somewhere?

Thanks,

TL Harris

They have the Manasota Steel Guitar Club and are looking for people to pick at their jams. Third Tuesday of each month (except December).

We also have a monthly steel guitar jam, 2nd Wednesday of each month at 5:30. Its a little far but not too far as the Manasota club people often come up. Catfish Johnny's Restaurant in Lake Panasoffkee (3 miles west of I75, exit 321 - CR470).

Thanks guys, I'll have to definitely check out the Manasota club since it's right there in Bradenton.

I am in Spring Hill, and play regularly around the Tampa area with one of the better classic country bands. PM me & let me know when you will be here & will send you our gig schedule.
One thing to keep in mind...the bands & musicians here are, for the most part, not at the level of professionalism & ability that they are up north, and gig pay is less than half of what it was 20 years ago up north; usually around $50 per man IF that. If I had it to do all over, I woulda gone to Texas. The "country" scene here is pretty pathetic, only clubs that have country are Legions,Amvets, VFWs,Mooses, etc.
