I'm waiting for mine to break it's first string (whichever it may be) to put the set of NYXLs I bought on it. I put 6-10 hrs a week on it practicing for 2 months now - still waiting. |

After playing “30†gigs on my Emmons LeGrande II, E9 neck, with my first set of NYXL’s, I decided to put on a new set. Obviously the new set sounds better, but I left the old set on to see how long they would last. I have never had a regular set of Pro-Steels last this long without having to adjust the knee levers, or having a string break. I’m sold on these NYXL’s, and at $12 or $15 a set, they certainly are worth the money, especially if they don’t break. |

I remember years ago when I broke my first .011 string. It caught the tip of my nose. That string could have launched the space shuttle!!! |

Had good luck with my Fessy not breaking strings. I usually change my 3rd pretty regular so that doesn't happen. My old PP D-10 back in the 70's/80's broken strings a lot. Another thing about the Fessy is it refuses to go out of tune! I recently did 39 performances of "Always...Patsy Cline" and never had to touch the tuning nuts and barely touched the machine heads. I've owned a lot of steels over the years and my two Fessys and a Desert Rose were the best of all of them for stability. _________________ 2013 Brook Torridge, 2014 Martin 000-18, two homebrew Teles, Evans RE200 amp, Quilter 101R head, understanding wife of 45 years. I went through a period with my G2 single 12 uni where I would break a .11 every night, even if I looked at it. I went through 4 strings one night. Tried wrapping it every way possible. Didnt work! So I started using a .12 and (knock on wood) I havent had any problems. H _________________ "Hotrod"

Spare strings are like an umbrella, which when carried actually prevents rain. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Wash your car first, then carry the umbrella. For a mixed weather pattern.
I’m having a hard time trying to break plain NYXL’s on my Carter S-12. I have broken a wound GHS on it. |
