Jim, remember this thread - https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=112806?

That was about this show - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hoX4rXJGWg, which is obviously the same prison show as the one you're referencing. Definitely Buddy, from da' man himse'f.

All this shows the complete futility in ever disagreeing with Steve Hinson on "who played on what?".

Yeah, the shirt was one thing that made me wonder if it really was Buddy. Doesn't look like his taste...

Does sending Linda Ronstadt in that skimpy little outfit to do a prison show seem like cruel and unusual punishment to anyone else?

Trying to put myself in those guys shoes, I'm pretty sure that would have been the highlight of my internment.

I don't know. Did Buddy Cage ever play in her band?

Kenny Edwards on bass. He's been gone 8 years this August. Sad

Buddy was always for hire even if it was only one gig. A band I played bass for in the 1970's hired him to play steel on a recorded concert that went to LP. It was Tony Douglas & the Shrimpers Live in Meridian, Miss. He was paid $750.00 plus expenses for the 2 hour show. He just sat in a chair before the show listening to the studio recordings that steel player Bob Tuttle had played on for Tony's albums and writing charts. He said he vaguely remembered His n' Hers which was recorded in Nashville back in the 60's. He never touched his guitar. After a couple hours of listening he says "I think I got it guys and I better go get ready". Showtime comes and he kicks every song off and plays every lick just like the record which was what Tony wanted. I've only met one other steel player that could do that and that was Tom Morrell. Those two guys were not ordinary people. They were musical geniuses in every sense of the word.
