I have a 79 Super Pro. I am on the road and the tone pot went bad. It is stuck on the bass side. How hard is to replace that? Can I just snip the wire till I get home? _________________ MSA CLassic SD-10

Because of how the tone stack is configured, you cannot just clip the wire on the Bass control because it will act like the pot is on 10 or higher. If it is stuck full on then maybe the ground wire has come loose from the pot. If you open the amp up, you should be able to measure the resistance between the chassis and the wiper on the Bass pot and see the resistance change as you move the pot. _________________ Michael Brebes

I believe you're talking about a Sho-Bud guitar with a single tone control knob. In that case, yes, you can snip the wire to the potentiometer to fully disconnect the tone control and you should be fine and with full tone response. Make sure you don't snip the signal wire from the pickup to the output jack. Or you could snip one leg of the tone capacitor to be sure.
