Looking for tabs for "The Cost of Living" by Don Henley (featuring Merle Haggard). Also like to know who's the steeler?
The solo has a transition from a major 3rd (root and 3) to a seventh, where the root moves chromatically downward to the seventh while the 3rd moves a half step then a whole step upward to the fifth. I'm trying to learn how to do that move. |

The steel player on that song is Milo Deering. I worked through it quite a while back, and here's what I've got in my notes for the solo. I haven't looked at it in a while, so I haven't double-checked it recently...
I think the spot you're talking about is the move up from 5 to 6, 4th string raised, while letting off the A pedal, then back to 5. That's what I came up with, anyway. YMMV...

Milo's work on that 'Cass County' album was a big inspiration for me to finally find myself a pedal steel and give it a go. |

| Not meaning to side-track this post gents, but I keep learning more about Milo. I have owned Shawn Colvin's CD "Uncovered" for some years. I didn't realize who the PSG musician was until recently. Turns out it is Milo. Very subtle playing but hauntingly (maybe not exactly the best adjective) beautiful. He has a different sound. Great stuff. |
