| Having recently purchased a new WBS guitar, the guitar has split tuning facility on all strings. I would very much appreciate some guidance as to which strings to split so as to fully maximize this facility. I use the Emmons E9th. tuning and setup with four floor pedals, pedal 1 being the Paul Franklin pedal, plus 5 knee levers. |

Hi Richard
If you have a lever that lowers 6 to F#, you can split that with the B pedal to give a G. This gives you three inversions of the minor triad on strings 5 6 & 8 to go with the majors.
The lever that lowers 5 a half step can split with the A pedal to give C or B#. With Es lowered you get Adim.
And I split the 4th string lower with the C pedal to give an Aaug with B and C.

Another use is to fine tune the feel stop of the 2nd string so the 9th string just makes contact right at the half step lower of the 2nd string. Adjust with the 9th string tuning nut and then adjust the split screw on the 9th, in, if it lowers more than a perfect 1/2 step lower. RP

If you have the 1st and 2nd string raise on a pedal, you can split the whole tone drop of 2 (on a knee) with the 2nd string raise, so that you hear the 2nd string pull up to 1 as the 1st string pulls up to a 3, then hear one of the two roots pull down to a b7.
