Gorgeous. I listened to the clips you posted on Facebook. Great sounding guitar. Doesn't hurt to have one of the best to ever touch a steel guiter.

Tommy made a special point of clarifying that his association with Mullen is still in place, and is unaffected by this recent acquisition. The Sheffield is now part of his collection of pedal steels.

I was told that the big difference is that while the Mullen is mass produced,
The Sheffield like the Anapeg and the Schild are not. |

I wouldn't consider any new Pedal Steel "mass produced".

Jack, according to Dave Wheelhouse, builder of Sheffield Guitars, on « steel guitar builder ».
Said, my guitars are hand built & are 1 off's. That’s not true of Mullen’s! |

What you guys must realise is that Dave Wheelhouse has a day job. He works here in England as a teacher / lecturer. His guitars are built to order in his spare time, mainly by hand.
I would agree with Jack Stoner re the term 'mass produced'. Even MSA's output of pedal steels, which is not inconsiderable, can hardly be called mass produced. If pedal steels had a market where they could be mass produced, the Chinese would be in there like a shot.

It depends upon where you live Brian. If you are from the UK, a USA built guitar is currently prohibitively expensive. This is simply down to the exchange rate, and the dollar is very strong against the GB pound. Obviously things are different from your side of the pond. To ship a Mullen or any other guitar to the UK is a very costly exercise. It is unfair to compare the price of the 2 guitars because of the differential in exchange rates.
BTW, Dave's guitars literally have bearings everywhere including the nut rollers.

Yes my good friend Bob Adams, he put that on his site a good few years ago. The prices have changed a little since then and I know the photos could be a little miss leading between SD10 and D10, but that price was for the black SD10 model. Dave

My sincerest thank you to my dear friend Dave Wheelhouse for building me such a beautiful and fantastic instrument. I’ll keep, play and cherish it.
Also, I have been and will continue to be an endorser and play Mullen guitars , as Mullen guitars have been and will continue to be my first choice in pedal steel guitar as Ken Byng so eloquently stated.😊 |

Tommy is the real deal. We are so proud to have such a Great guy on our side. Tommy came to me and said he was given a guitar by a great friend of his, and he asked if he could play it without causing any problems. He could have played it and we prob would be none the wiser, but not Tommy. He used his morality and came to us with the idea. I respect this man so very much. I am proud to call him my friend, my Brother, and part of Mullen Guitars forever.
So not to hijack the thread completely, that guitar is stunning. I bet she sounds as good as she looks. Congrats Dave. What a beautiful piece of art you have created.
