Paul, you can probably reach him at Steel Guitars of Nashville music store. Tyler is also a member here.

Sorry fellas. Been a busy week. Let me figure out how to post a copedent and I'll share it with y'all. It's all ideas I've taken from other players, so I'd love to see someone take something from it and make it their own.

That's the gist of it. The RKR looks strange but I think of it as two separate knees and I try not to let 5 ring when lowering 10, vice versa...

I don't have a guitar set up at the moment but I'm 99.9% sure this is right.

Tyler:

I also lower 5 to Bb and 10 to an A - works for me.

I'm intrigued, though, by your C pedal also lowering the 10th.

Roger, tune your 10th down a half and use it with the C pedal. I almost guarantee you'll find things you like right away. Bethel told me a very long time ago about Crawford doing that, so I tried it and love it.

John, funny enough, I did that before I met Bethel (who also does that) but he really showed me the potential in it. I've never changed my p/p over but the open D makes so much more sense to me and no pesky halfstops. When I do play the p/p it's like a constant battle with dyslexia.

**Edited the E9 copedent. I forgot to mention I have a half stop on the LKL that gives me E-F-F# on 4&8.

That's clever!

Open, it's an F#add9 with the 3rd in the bass. If I also lower the 9th string there's a nice 8-string 9th chord 'two below zero'.

I don't see a downside to this clever change yet. Of course, I'm only detuning the 10th for now so my explorations are limited. If I lived around the corner, Tyler, I'd be pestering you to hook my guitar up for me!

Your E9 set-up also tempted me to, once again, detune my 2nd string and try the D note. I love it at the zero position but it complicates things when I go up three frets and use the F-lever - those lovely cadences are gone over the first four strings. I have no doubt that you've compensated for that loss somehow but I can't see how at the moment.

Boy, Jimmy C really understood E9, didn't he? He showed me the value of lowering the 9th string and it opened things up for me. Thanks to you too, Tyler.

Jimmie Crawford put me on to the D on the second string in 1979 when he built my 10x10 PP, and I have it on most of my guitars. I have a couple of PP's with the D# that I play a lot, too, and it's easier than I thought going back and forth. Kinda good to have to think differently, at least that's what I keep telling myself...

Also, on the 10x10 he had pedals 9 and 10 that work on both necks. Pedal 9 raises 5 to C# and lowers 10 to Bflat...

Thank you sir. Tried to talk to Del today. Not much luck. Tell him to call me back tomorrow on the shop phone. I hope Santa Clause brings y'all a cell tower this year.
