Hi All,
How do you guys lay the guitar down in a soft case? It looks like if I lay my guitar down strings first it's gonna do some real damage to them. Is it ok to put it in the case right side up? If you put it face down how do you not damage it? Please help, I bought a gator case the other day, fits great with a little soft foam and doesn't wiggle around, but I can't figure out how to set it up quickly, very cumbersome setting it up and tearing it down. Thanks - Pat _________________ LDG Sho Bud '73, Mullen Disco, Milkman

I got a keyboard case for my Zum D-10. It was large enough to line with 1" case foam, which I covered with a plush throw blanket with an eagle on it. Looks great and great protection for the steel. I am using split soft cases and is the best move I have ever made. I have the guitar weight down to 36 lB. |

I got a small sheet of 1" foam---this stuff:

I was also concerned but it works well.
I lay the steel down on it. It is firm enough that the steel does not rock or fall over as I set it up. Laying on the foam is no different from how the steel sits in some cases. If it's good enough for some steel makers....
In transit, the steel-in-case stands on its side rather than face down. |

I made a platform of 1/8 hardboard covered with foam rubber. For specifics search "gig bag deconstructed " |
