Hello Tom, just trying to help here. I don't know any of the people you mention, but I have played Kalama'ula.

Attached is my Video of that song played in the Key of G I think on my 1929 Student Acoustic and my 1965 Guyatone Steel Guitar which is tuned to E7th.

That was a 45 on the Waikiki label. The flip side is Aloha Kauai and is said to have Joe Custino on steel--so I'd assume Joe is also on Kalama Ula.
