My chrome BL 705 reads 18.56 on a multimeter,
Is that about where it should be at?

Somewhere between 19 and 29k ohms is what I've seen. The 705 on my new MSA is 21.23k so I hope that kinda helps.

Paul,
A 705 will read 18K to 21K dc ohms so you’re correct. Here’s a post from John Fabian about 10 years ago:

Quote:
The first number of the x05 series indicated different impedances and resistances running from lowest to the highest. lower numbers tend to be brighter while higher numbers tend to be mellower.

705 - approximately 18K-21K Ohms, 15H inductance
805 - approximately 26K Ohms, 21H inductance
605 - approximately 15K Ohms, 11H inductance
505 - approximately 12K Ohms, 7.5H inductance

This numbering system does not hold true for the modern Lawrence pickups (710, 716, 910, etc.) The first number indicates construction and the second two numbers indicate impedance in Henrys.

The last one I owned was 19k. I don't really know if there is much difference between the chrome 705 and the Reissue 705. I like the reissue just as well. I still would like to find a couple of chrome 705s just because....
