I like your playing but the pictures leave me sad and in tears.
My folks and I never had much when I was growing up but nothing you are showing in those pictures.

Thank you Erv for making your comment. Conditions during that period varied from one country to another and from one area to another. Your country suffered just as much as any other in the period following the 1929 Stock Market crash when tens of thousands of people lost everything and had to migrate overland to places like California, you might recognize them as The Hobos.
During WW2 the USA kept the UK alive with supplies using the Atlantic Convoys, these Convoys lost 50% of ships to German Submarines every voyage, my uncle John being aboard one of them in 1943. Everyone in this country had to register with one shop which was supplied with only enough food for the registered customers. The food Ration for an adult for one week was :-
4ozs of Bacon and Ham, 8ozs of Sugar, One Pound of Meat, 2ozs of Cheese, 2ozs of Butter, 2ozs of Lard (grease) and one Egg every two weeks if they were available. Clothing was rationed the same way.
Rationing lasted from 1940 to 1953, the UK paid its last WW2 Debt Instalment under Lend Lease to the USA about 15 years ago.
My Father was killed at work and I became the Family Breadwinner aged 15. wearing someone else's Rags became the norm.
There are people today in this country the UK, the 5th richest in the world, who are being kept alive by Food Banks who give out donated food and clothing.

Very touching James. Some of those pictures look like what's happening in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Very sad.
