One of my pleasures is browsing YouTube listening to various groups, mostly unknown, from all over the world, playing our country music. Norway, Holland, Germany, Australia, sometimes it seems the best place to find real American country music is anywhere except the USA.

Lately I've been enjoying some good stuff from French Canadian groups. There is quite a selection of videos from a TV show which seems to have the same house band playing for various guest artists.

So - here's a nice little shuffle duet. I don't speak a word of French, but the music itself needs no translation, I love it. Who's the steel man?

It's probably Coco McGraw. That's Ray Legere on fiddle.

Jean-Guy Grenier is an amazing steel player but he is so much more than that. On another Quebec produced country variety show he is the lead guitar player in the house band. He also plays banjo and bass professionally and I believe he started out as a drummer. He is an extremely talented musician. And apparently a really nice guy although I`ve never managed to meet him.
