If you’ve never before seen Emmons bolt on red belly ( I never did) here it is
while we are waiting on pick up to come back from pick up guru Jerry Wallace, Henry took on another project, an extremely rare 1965 Emmons bolt on, red belly... guitar is in super nice condition, so all we are doing is replacing some non original parts, and some serious TLC ... more pictures to follow 😊

little story behind this guitar, it had one original owner who bought it in 1965, and if I’m lucky I may even get original invoice 😊... guitar was not owned , but it was played by Buddy as well...

My good pal Fred Jack here in Bastrop, TX just acquired one of these a couple months back. It's not near as clean as that one, but definitely a red-belly bolt-on. I believe it belonged to an old friend who had passed, and Fred was able to 'rescue' it from out of an attic.

Bill, that is the same guitar, it will be taken apart and cleaned, serviced, and properly adjusted, two non original knee levers will be replaced with three original Emmons black knee levers, it will be a super duper, kick ass guitar when it’s done 😊 , ‘65 bolt on , red belly is even more rare then your regular red belly wrap arounds ... I got it from Fred, and the old friend Fred got it from was the original owner , and the only owner since he bought it back in 1965... this guitar is a piece of history, and it will be brought back to her original beauty very soon, not to mention her music capabilities 😊 ... Henry is working on her as we speak, and I’m working on figuring out how I’m gonna pay for all that ha ...

two non original right knee lever are being replaced with original Emmons black ionized knee levers, and vertical knee lever will be added to the left knee ...

Hi Damir! Ah.. so that makes sense, how many one-owner red-belly bolt-ons could there possibly be?? LOL I knew Fred was thinking about selling it. Last I heard Jim Loessberg was looking it over.
I sat behind it for a few minutes, and it seemed like a good one to me.. definitely had that bolt-on 'bite' that I like so much. Glad to see that it's going to be re-conditioned and made right. Are you planning to keep it?
Did you happen to see the photos that Fred had of the original owner playing that guitar on stage? He had apparently covered the black mica (including the decal) with 'rosewood grain' contact paper. When Fred first got the guitar we couldn't figure out what was going on, because the black mica is clearly original. Fred finally confirmed that it was contact paper on those old photos. The Country Tradition logo came along later I guess. That weird curved KL is supposedly original to the guitar, maybe one of the P/P gurus will see it and chime in.

hi Bill,
my guess would be that guitar came out of the factory with no knee levers, but I may be wrong... I would love to keep it, but my budget is seriously depleted lol ... I even try to sell my ‘64 Standel amp to help me pay back money I borrowed to purchase this guitar, and pay Henry for correct parts and his work on this beauty... I just couldn’t pass on something like this , I never even knew red belly bolt on even existed 😊 ... we will post more pictures soon ... we are still waiting to get C6 pickup for ‘67 bolt on back from Jerry, and as soon as we have it back, Henry will install it back in to the ‘67 bolt on, and that will complete the work on that one... and then this ‘65 will have full attention 😊

it would definitely be cheaper to watch birds lol... but to watch those vintage instruments being brought back to life, and see them in all their glory and beauty again, is something else, and I find a tremendous satisfaction in doing that...

I get that... and this particular guitar was languishing in an attic, not the best place to be preserved. It's great to see it 'rescued'. |

yes Sir, this one is definitely rescued, thanks to Fred and Henry, it is undergoing a recovery program, and right now sitting in the beauty salon waiting for the makeover lol ... it will be back among living soon ...

all ready for cleaning, polishing and touch of fine oil ...
Henry said guitar needs to be reflocked , so it will be, this ‘65 will receive a beautiful new red flocking ...
worn out parts like this one will be replaced as well...

I went ahead and took completely down, endpates and necks and everything, getting it ready to reflock. Nothing else wrong I found. Changers were dirty but not worn so a lot of cleaning and be good to go. This guitar is gonna look great. Looking at three week completion if I get all parts rounded up. Chrome strips on body just need cleaning and the inset cleaned out to make thin look gods again. End plates and pedal bar in great shape
I’m going to fill all holes with dowls pins and glue, get the even with body and then reflock guitar in red as orginal as I can get it. The kness will have to be remounted as per that era. very interesting project. I did my 67 this way and came out really great, like a new guitar. Hoping this one will to. Few parts att missing and some aren’t correct but will be when I’m done. Thanks for the comments.

Yes, this method of fillin holes works great. Got from my friend Lynn Stafford who is a master on push pulls. Drill 1/8 hole same depth as screw that was in it and use 1/8 dowel stock, a drop or two of gorilla glue in hole, drive piece in, let glue set and then use an exacta knife to cut of excess. The knife looks like a small chisel and very sharp. Tap it a little on one side then go to other side and tap it and cut of dowel. Will be smooth against body of guitar. Once flocked, will be invisible and ready to put new screws where ever you need them.
You can see there are a couple that I haven’t cut flush yet.
You will also need to sand the old flocking smooth, not nessecarly off, just smooth. I use a spong sander bar or what ever you call it. Works great and gets old flocking smooth.

I'm not in the market for any guitar. Need to sell a 1/2 dozen or so. However, if I was, I'd rather have the original dirty red flocking. But that's just me. Henry any chance that one has the serial # engraved on one of the cabinet ends? Where the endplate attach? Just curious.
As for 66 Brown bellies. That I have.
