I just about finished upgrading a Sho-Bud-made Fender Artist D10 for a friend, adding some modern changes. Now, this guitar is in dire need of fretboards, as a clueless, former owner equipped the steel with what appears to be self-adhesive foils bearing 'Rains' markers (Rains originals??) with a geometry unsuitable for this scale. So, the midpoints of the strings lie almost above the 11th fret instead of the 12th... This guitar seems to have a 23 7/8 scale (as well as I could measure), definitely less than 24".
My friend and I are thankful for any suggestions or offer for replacing the current 'fretboards', before having new ones made. Could it be that the original 'fretboards' are still there, hidden under the foils? This could only be if the originals were mereley printed on the necks, not physical sheets (which I don't know). |

Thanks, Stu, but they only have 8-string lap steel boards and different scales. |

I make custom reproduction fretboards for lots of guitars using a laser engraver- either in plastic black and white or aluminum - gloss black and polished aluminum- no colors. |

I bought fret boards from George Boards. They were wide enough to accommodate 12 strings. You just need to trim them to the proper width before installing them. They are available in most all common scale lengths. I got them for 10 string lap steels I made, and trimmed them to the desired width. They work really well. |
