A few years back I bought Justin Trevino's "More Loud Music and Strong Wine" CD (released 2005). I wasn't playing PSG back then. I happened to listen to it over the weekend and became aware of the great pedal steel playing on this record. Curious, and trying to get acquainted with who the great players are, this CD has a apparently quite a few based on my internet searches: Jimmy Day, Scott Walls, Dickie Overby, Rick Price, Jim Lossberg.
Impressive! My one complaint though is the CD doesn't indicate who played on what songs. |

That's a compilation of several projects. If you Facebook or email Justin I feel he'd be happy to tell you who's on what tune. _________________ Emmons/Sho~Bud/Blanton, Fender/Peavey.

I'll check into that. Not that big of a deal to me who actually did what, although it would have been nice. Main thing is I am impressed with the PSG phrases/solos on this CD. Thanks Justin. |

Thanks for the tip, Ken. I bought this CD based on your recommendation. It arrived Saturday and I've already listened to it a few times - it's loaded with great steel. I have no idea who played on which cuts but it's all good.
For anyone else interested in purchasing Justin's CDs, they're available from Heart of Texas Records here: http://hillbillyhits.com/hotrecords/justintrevino.html |

All those guys are great pickers but I can recognize Dickey really easy, and usually Jim Lossberg. _________________ Henry Matthews
