So interesting, the two all time studio greats of steel guitar talking about their craft. So much interesting history.. Lloyd's memory is amazing as is his ability to play and create music.

what a treasure.

here's the Dave Rich song with Jimmy Day he called a big influence:
It Didn't Work Out, Did It?

and his Alan Jackson solo:
Remember When

and another great interview I just stumbled on with Lloyd and JayDee talking about some of their favorite cuts they ever did:

I wasn't familiar with Leslie Tom, but here's a great live video of her and Lloyd:

I'm just blown away from watching this interview! There is SO MUCH knowledge that Lloyd has and it's so interesting to listen to and watch. It's unfortunate, that, we have lost so many other pioneer steel players, who, will never give their testimonies to their steel playing.
Thank you very much for this interview. It is a true treasure.

Thanks to a nudge from Lloyd's great interview, I spent the better part of last night changing my 12 string Excel to a 10 string, losing the outside strings and a couple of knee levers and pedals. The inside neck is an 8 string, non-pedal, short scale neck.

This is the best of the best interview of Lloyd Green that can ever be.
Paul Franklin asked and provoked the best from Lloyd. Paul knows the history and facts of how pedal steel came into prominence in Nashville and who the session players were on hit recordings and what led to the success of such.

Even after Lloyd explained why he doesn't need the E's down KL change and then played a beautiful lick to demonstrate how he more than compensates, I still don't get it!

I'm sure he's the only great player who doesn't do that, and maybe the ONLY E9 player in the world to not lower their E's.
