I think a lot of "tone"(including the more nuanced aspects) is inherent not to the materials/mojo/magic/vintage/voodoo of the guitar but to how well it functions, how well it fits you and vice versa and how much dedicated sweat you've put into it. The less impedance between head/heart/hands/speaker, the more desirable nuances you'll retain on the bandstand. Expensive guitars, to my way of thinking sound "better" primarilary because they function more smoothly and accurately, so your playing is more nuanced and rich. I don't think it's because of "Tight lows, punchy midrange, and singing highs."
If you and your guitar are fighting at home, you might still pull off something special because you're in a comfortable place. Take that same fight to a live performance and...
Or maybe it's the specific anodization process on the changer and low capacitance cables...one or the other. |
