Here's a snapshot of work in progress - just did this today. This is a beautiful slack key tune from the soundtrack of the film "the Descendants" that features exquisite, perfectly chosen Hawaiian music. I did a little research, and this song was composed in (low to high) BF#DF#AD. I didn't think it quite worked on Weissenborn so I tried Dadd9 (low to high) DAEF#AD ... open D with the middle D raised one whole step.

This isn't close to a note-for-note rendition, just what I have so far for my interpretation of the melodies and harmonies - basically just a skeleton with some ideas for where to go. The themes are basically variations of Bm to E, C to Bm to E and C to D to E all with suspensions and upper intervals. I'm sure I'll play it differently every time - just a MIDI for now. Beautiful, evocative tune.

I jumped on that DVD, when our local video rental went out of business. $2. You play the tune with conviction. Nice work.
