I play it in the group I am with now. The kick off is on the 8th and 10th fret. When I am on the 10th fret I am using my B and C pedals walking down to the 8th fret. The turn around is the same lick. I finish the song with the same lick.

Here's a link to a thread on this in the Tablature section:

https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=2131387&highlight=#2131387

With all (very) due humility, I think my post in the thread is the closest to accurate. I spent a lot of time listening to the intro again and again, a couple of notes at a time. I didn't have "The Amazing Slow Downer" or equivalent, so I was admittedly listening to it at half speed and same key but comically low pitch using Media Player Classic. There may be places where I tabbed two notes (on strings 2 and 3) but really only string 2 was picked, but I believe I got the essential melodic pattern of the riff right.

NOTE: I just went on YouTube and I think Ricky is right--the tune is in C#, not D as I tabbed it! (D'OH!) But just move my tab down one fret. The melodic pattern I feel is essential and is missing from the other tabs in the thread is this (after the 3 pickup notes):

(G# notes on the 3rd string let ring along with the melody notes give the "chimy" feel.)

The rest of the intro is B and C pedals as others have said.

Ricky Davis is a hundred times better player than I am, so I feel ridiculous claiming my rendition is better, but I can't help it if I'm right. (IF I'm right!) I studied it hard, but I couldn't play it right at tempo if my life depended on it, and he could play it easily. Wink Smile

Ok thanks I’ll study that. I know it’s in C# and it’s A pedal with F lever on fret 12. I just couldn’t pick out the proper melody, even with ASD.

That’s it alright. It’s a combination of 4 little patterns. Very tricky to play. Just a matter of keeping at it. I can play it slowly now.
