Yesterday, someone from the forum me told me that Robert Randolph had told a story about me from 2002, when I worked for him as his guitar tech.
I didn't get all of the story, but from what I could glean, he has me dropping a steel into the pool at hotel in LA.
It wasn't a steel, it was a cheap acoustic guitar that I threw into the pool from the second floor balcony, and right after I plucked it out of the pool and dried it. The way the wood warped provided me with some guitar design insights that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.
I have fond memories of the tour, though I don't miss moving the B3 organ.
Here is a picture of Robert in the dressing room when he opened for Dave Matthews at Madison Square Garden.

Wait, so are you saying it was your own guitar, or it was Robert's or...?

Odd that RR would recall it as a steel guitar, in which case, he presumably recalls it as being his, and was pissed off and still tells the story in a maligning way? What do you make of it?

On a serious note, Chris. What did you find out about the guitar after it was all watered. I build a few acoustics by myself, and on one twelfe string, suddenly on New Year's morning (Cold and very dry humidity the the body was split in half. That's what you get when you glue an instrument together under strain. Anyway, what did you find out?
