I know what you mean Damir. When you put many many hours into these guitars they become personal somewhat and it is hard to see em go.

Mike, I think this will be my first and last project lol, it takes a lot of money and time, and work to do this, and this is not even as half as detailed as what you do, I really admire you and your work on pp guitars. I think I’ll just do this one for myself, and that’s it...

That is true that its a ton of work and expense. In the end however you have a better than new vintage steel that really cannot be easily had anywhere in these conditions. I don't do many myself but when I do I expect many hours of labor...

I always loved what Sierra did on the bottom of their guitars, so since I can do whatever I want right now  I did the same thing, and I think it looks awesome 😊.

I have to say Damir - that is as good as you could get a Sho~Bud endplate in terms of polishing. My own Pro 111 Custom was completely refurbed with a sunburst finish and every piece of metalwork was polished. The endplates were polished pretty well (very slightly milky finish) and certainly not a mirror finish as good as yours.

Ken my friend, your video was my main motivation, I never really liked the tone of Pro lll until I heard your playing on that video, the tone is absolutely great😊

Thank you Damir. Bobbe Seymour used to tell me that a good Pro 111 was a guitar that is always worth acquiring. My guitar was given to me by Sho~Bud (London) in 1975 just to promote it. It was used by me on the road for over 30 years. The lacquer finish was heavily crazed and the changer rollers were very grooved, particularly on the E9 neck. I got a guy in Scotland to carry out the refurb and gave him a photo of a sunburst Show Pro that I wanted him to base the colour on. I put Wallace True Tone pups in the guitar and it sings like a bird now.
A natural finish 'Bud is a thing of beauty, especially if it has a slight amber tint. Your guitar is going to be a good'un.

I thought about changing pickups, but I took them to Harry Jackson, and he tested them and said they are as good as new, so original pickups will stay with the guitar for now

Mine were very microphonic. I put a GL humbucker in the E9 neck but hated the tone. The True Tones brought my guitar to life and it recorded better than at any time since the 70's. Some Sho~Buds, like the Super Pro, sound great with the Lawrence 710 in them. If your original single coil pickups are working well, there is no reason on earth to change them.

I am thoroughly enjoying reading this post about your guitar. Please keep the narrative and photos updated.
I am particularly interested in a comment you made in this thread: "... idea is not to tighten the necks all the way down, but let them "breath" and vibrate ...".
I am more than just casually interested in that topic and am attempting to work out some sort of "torque spec" for my guitar project.
As your project moves along its journey, I respectfully ask that you please keep me up to date on your experiments on neck "tightness".
Best of luck mate - you just may turn out to be as good of a builder as you are a player and photographer. I only said I would rebuild one guitar - many later I find it hard to stop!

William, there is two theories I heard, one is that everything has to be tighten down as tight as possible, and other one is that necks should not be tighten up all the way... I remember one time Paul Franklin said in the topic about tuning pegs, that a part of a good tone on old Emmons push pulls was the fact that all the tolerances were really lose, and because of that everything was vibrating... also I decided not to use polyurethane because its plastic, and I didn't feel like covering my Sho Bud in plastic, it just doesn't seem like a good idea tone wise, same thing with necks, and other parts, I may tighten down some key parts around the changer, mechanical parts underneath, and stuff like that, but necks, keyheads and some other parts will be tighten up just enough to work... I think all that should make this guitar sound great, if not I can always get my screwdriver and tighten everything up lol ...

Kevin Hatton brand new split cases fit the pedal rack like a glow, pedal rack is now ready, all cleaned, and polished, oiled lightly with Remington gun oil, smells and operates smoothly like an old Ruger 😊 ... nice and new shiny Sho~Bud pedal rack decal I got from Michael Yahl is like an icing on the cake 😠...

Looking good Damir. I got a set of Kevin's split cases for my restored Pro 111, and it's a very civilised way to carry the guitar now. Got a tweed set for my push pull too.
