Afternoon Steelers,
Needing help and a solution with a pedal problem for a Carter Steel. My (B) pedal is traveling way to far. It is suppose to raise the G# to A but it is going way past that. If i loosen the nylon tuner it also changes the pitch of the string with out the pedal engaged
When i initially pressed the pedal down i heard a popping sound.
then the pedal became real springy.
Any help is good help
Peace and Blessing |

First back off the nylon tuner just enough so that it doesn't affect the string pitch. You may have to retune the string at that point. Next press the pedal and try to retune it. There is a pedal travel adjustment screw up near the bell crank that you may have to adjust slightly if the pedal is letting the string pull go too far.
Check those first and let us know what you found. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

With any all-pull pedal steel, even with the steel just sitting upside-down in the case, it's easy to tell if something's been overtuned! All you have to do is look at the fingers and notice if any of them aren't firmly up against the stop bar. |
