2018 OzSGA Jam Session
Some of us made it to the Jam Session through the snow flurries and cold wind! We only had two players; Eddie Lane and Beverly Harris who was in Springfield for a gig the night before and decided to stop by for a while. One of her all girl band members, Andrea Turner, came with her and blessed us with a beautiful song, Hickory Wind. Hope you'll come back sometime Andrea!
Other singers throughout the afternoon were; Sheena Beauchamp, Buddy Lewis(who also sang a couple duets together), Russ Burns, Eddie Lane, Dino Strunk and Charlie Steichen.
The band was comprised of Buddy Lewis on bass, Russ Burns on drums, and Dino Strunk on lead. The crowd numbered 12 including a couple from Indiana who just stopped by to listen and stayed the whole time! Hope y'all come back again!
Steve Melchi was in the audience but unable to play because of recent health problems. Please pray for Steve's health that he may be back to playing soon!
After our 2:15 pm break Beverly, her husband Mike and Andrea had to leave to get back to OK which left Eddie Lane to play steel. We continued on until 4:00 pm. Everyone had a great time but I'm afraid we wore Eddie out....such a trooper!
Thanks to the Stone Castle Hotel & Convention Center for the great venue and providing coffee, water, cups and accessories. Thanks to Charlie and Rosemary for putting things together, and all those who brought snacks. Thanks to the players, singers, and crowd for braving the old weather. Thanks to Buddy Lewis for providing the sound system. Take care and hope to see more of our pickers in June. Until then, Keep Steelin'.....
