Has anyone tried any of the hot new speakers in a NV 400? How did it work out?

I haven't tried on in a NV400 but the Eminence EPS-15C (what I use) is designed to be a direct replacement for the 1501-4 Black Widow. The EPS-15C is 7 lbs compared to about 20 for the Black Widow.

I know one steeler that was using a stereo system with 1501-4 Black Widow speakers. He borrowed my Eminence EPS-15C speaker and liked it so much better that he bought two EPS-15C's and sold the Black Widows.

I have an EPS-15C in my NV400 and I really like it. My back likes it too. 🤠

That 13 pounds must make a huge difference in a NV 400. Isn't the LTD 400 similar in size and weight? My '77 LTD came with a D-130. After it blew I installed a used 1501-4 that began its life in a fellow Forumite's NV 400, so it was well broken in when I got it. It sounds awesome, so I'm hesitant to change. But that 13 pounds would surely make a difference to my old aching back.

I have a Nashville 400 that I hadn't used much in recent years, mostly due to the weight. I saw an old post where someone had put a Nashville chassis in a Bandit 65 cabinet. I found a mint Bandit for a reasonable price, installed the Nashville amp and a Telonics Neo 12 in the Bandit cabinet. To me it sounds much better than the Nashville with the Black Widow ever did, and weighs about fifty pounds.

I found a way to make a NV400 weigh the same as a factory stock NV112. Get Rick Johnson to build you a solid pine cabinet for the 400 and use your choice of 15 inch neo-magnet speakers. I had a Reno 400 (same chassis as Nashville 400) that weighed 43 pounds configured that way. My speaker was a Telonics TSNEO-15.

Isn’t it also possibly change the magnet only in a Black Widow? Seems I’ve heard of this swap to a neo magnet.
