I should know this but I don't. Is the Nashville 112 a tube amp. I'm making the switch to this amp and just want to be sure it is. Sorry for my ingorance.

| Get one, then get a Sarno Black Box...you won't be disappointed. ART also makes a mic/instrument preamp that is very affordable and does a nice job of sweetening up a solid state amp, maybe not as durable as a Black Box, but a bit cheaper. |

| Wow thats 1/2 as much as the amp, What makes these amps so great if they are not tube. At that rate why not get a Peavey transtube for 1/2 the cost of the nashville 112. |

Simple. The NV112 was designed for steel guitar. The Transamps were designed for 6 string guitar.
This thread belongs in Electronics, not For Sale.

Not everyone agrees that the tube sound is preferable to a good SS sound. There is (obviously) room for both on the market.

| Absolutely, I personally have owned most of the Peavey line and prefer them, but for the money and the sound, I think the NV112 is the best. I have heard this from many others as well, I would prefer this amp even without any tube preamps... |

Chuck, it's a myth that tube amps are 'better' than solid state amps. Depends on what you want it to do. A Fender Twin is a great tube amp and works well for steel but is only 88 watts (+/-) and just doesn't have the clean headroom required for steel, especially C6th. I've been doing this for 40+ years and have had them all and been a dealer for Fender, Webb, and Evans. I've also recently owned a genuine '64 'no logo' Fender Deluxe that everybody raves about and I thought it was the worst sounding amp I ever played through and was glad to be rid of it. OTOH, I love Super Reverbs for guitar but they stink for steel (IMHO). Give me a good, clean, reliable solid state amp any day. I use a G&K MB200 bass head (200 clean class 'd' watts) into a SICA 350 watt neo speaker - more power than I could ever use and it's clean all the way. If you want to rock and roll, put a fuzz pedal with it. Peavey has been the leader in steel guitar amps since the Session 400 came out in the 70's and they've made a bunch of good products for us steelers. The Nashville 112 is a great little amp and is easier to tote around for us older guys. Don't dismiss it because of something you read on some rock n roll website.

| I have owned nothing but Peavey Amps. It is the "voicing" that makes them a good Steel amp. I own a pair of NV 112's. I remember the days of hauling a Sessions 500. Had a great sound, it was a back killer!!!. |
