What's that going on with the extended return spring retaining plate? Is that something custom? I ask because I am trying to design something along the same lines in CAD as we speak..

What I've envisioned for quite a while is that same kind of thing, only instead of just having the rods go through holes in the plate, there would be a set of rollers that the rods would ride in, with a retaining plate above (well, below, when the guitar is upright).

Duane, Mr. Helms told me that the return spring bracket was already on the guitar when he got it from Jack Musgrave. He, like you, had never seen one prior to that but it certainly is a good idea and works well. Your idea of rollers would no doubt be even better.
