I have found now for years that the YouTube option is a good way to get your music out for people to listen to. I make YouTubes now versus breaking down my old Fender Stringmaster and dragging it around to play with a group that many times you haven’t even had a good rehearsal session with.

My notion of youngsters playing the Steel Guitar always strikes a note for the ones I instruct to take all opportunities to play with others versus just sitting in a room hacking away at a lesson. However, what you do that you think sounds good get you some UB The Sideman disk like the ones Mike Headrick offers and put a steel arrangement down and make a YouTube. I like to go through the YouTubes and listen to what Steel Players are doing.

Of course we would all love to sound like the pros but don’t let the bother you what so ever. Get you an account setup and go for it however, many do not know how to listen to them as they often are affixed by the perfect sound. They need to comment on the video.

Mike Headrick will have a table at the Texas Steel Guitar Association Jamboree, 2018.
