update 06/25/2018 - Guitar now set up and playable, cleaned underside. Plays and SOUNDS fabulous like a push pull should!
- PUSH PULL, FATBACK,BOLT-ON, WOOD NECKS,
8x4
A couple small imperfections in the apron , but hardly noticeble.
Case is road worn but useable.
This guitar has serious mojo !!!!

Hey Mark,I have the last Basketweave ever made, complete Basketweave made in 1978 according to Ron Sr and have restored it to mint condition. I don't know how to post a picture of it but someone posted it several years ago on the forum.

Agreed on the cabinet. I think Mike could work his magic on the mechanicals--buff, polish, reset, tune, etc. Call it a partial restoration. Then another video with Randy Beavers or Wayne Dahl to top it off! And while he's at it, maybe Mike could include one of his P2P amps...something along the lines of a twin clone in a head/cabinet configuration! I know, just wishful thinking...
If not Mike, then perhaps Lynn Stafford, Billy Knowles, Mike Cass, Tommy Cass, etc.
Actually, I think the basket weave pattern is starting to grow on me...but just slightly. I love the wood neck/bolt-on aspect of this guitar. It should sound killer. One of these is on my short list of future purchases. I'd be OK with a partial restoration. |

| I think it is a relatively rare-bird as is & would leave the topside alone ...... but I've wondered if the textured basket-weave laminate provides a less intimate contact between the body vs changer/necks//key heads. Is their a discernible negative tonal effect? |

I agree that the BW should be left alone but the underside and metal work will have to be address which is no small feat. As far as the changer on the body? That is a VERY good question. It would interesting once this guitar come apart to see exactly how Emmons did that as in my mind is super important to the end result tone. We all know the bolt-on changer actually bolts to the pickup plate. The question is, does that plate have direct contact with the wood or does it somehow sit on top the BW. Interesting topic...

I spoke to a highly regarded emmons technical expert/builder this morning. (I am not going to mention names ). He said he has never seen a wood neck basketweave personally. He also said that it was his understanding that basketweaves were not comercially available until 1975. The serial on this guitar puts it in sequence as a 1971/2 model. So what does this mean?....I don't know? is this a very early basketweave , perhaps a "custom" at the time , or an early prototype?

This is either another Basketweave that's out there or the same one that was listed down in Florida on Craigslist a couple weeks ago over in the "Pedal Steel" section. This thing is slowly growing on me. Weird but good weird. It also reminds me of Bobbe Seymour (RIP my friend) in his early days.

| This is only the 2nd B'wve I have seen on this Forum for sale. An S-10 in SOUTH AFRICA was listed some 10-12 years ago by a man with a "Dutch" sounding last name.. in the foggy reaches of my memory.. Not sure if its Ser.. # was part of his post. |

| As I said in an earlier post I owned a BW Emmons with wooden necks.I ordered it new from Emmons in the mid 70's. What a mistake that was. The BW covering is very thick compared to mica and that along with the wood necks destroyed the PP tone. I sold it to Bill Payne who had a steel guitar shop in Lakeland, Fl. at the time. It is probably the guitar pictured with the sneeze guard. I've owned probably 4 or 5 PP Emmons and that BW was the worst. My guitar looked exactly like the one in Mark's picture. |
