A couple of weeks ago I bought my first Sho Bud, an S10 Baldwin-era from 1966-67, 3 pedals and 2 levers. Regardless of whether it's a "collectible" or not, I really, really love it. When I set it up, whoever had it before me knew what they were doing, because it was almost in perfect tune, pedals and all. Thanks so much to Ricky Davis for answering a plethera of questions/emails and informing me that my pickup needed rewinding due to the pedal/lever noise that was coming out of my amp. And a thank you to Jason Lollar for giving me the purest and hottest single coil pickup/rewind sound I've ever heard, finally giving me that old-style pedal sound I've been trying to get. For those who appreciate the rack and barrell system -- I'm right there with you. At first I thought it was "noisey," but it was (as Ricky told me) because the pickup had gone microphonic. There's barely a spec that's picked up in my amp now. I find the barrells/end tuners easy to work, and the guitar has been holding a tune really well. Man, I just love it.
Viva la Sho Bud!

I just got my first Sho-Bud as well, a late 70's Pro 1. I'm really pleased with it, and would like to thank Ron in California for making the deal happen with Bobbe - and Steel Guitars Nashville for doing such a great job setting it up and getting it from Nashville to Eastern Canada in two days!! It's the real deal, and sounds exactly like I hoped it would. |

Yeah, Now that's what we been talkin' 'bout----TONE!!! I stay stunned with the tone of my '69 "The Professional"!! Then I went and tried a pair of 15" Altec 418B's through my Super Twin, and really dived into the deep end of the tone pool! YOW-ZA! |

Well....Randy, I've been a poseur for almost two years, as I bought a Sho Bud t-shirt from Bobbe back then, but now I can wear it with authority. And I just ordered a second one from Bobbe for when my first one wears out!
