I hope you old pro's don't mind this rookie raving about all the fun he's having. I figure there might be some pre-beginners out there lurking who might be interested.

I am absolutely in love with E9 pedal steel. I asked a while ago what the advantages were over C6, but now I know. It's hard to put into words, but it's a wonderfully designed tuning. The notes are just so handy.

And pedals - this thing scared the whoozis out of me, but a night poking around, jamming in E, A, & B, one fret, multiple frets, pedals, no pedals - knee levers, scooting my chair around, finding a sweet spot, picking up and down the neck, listening to ALL those tones...

Woo Hoo.

It came on Wednesday. It's only Thursday.

I'm seriously in love.

That's the thing,Jeffrey. I get such a thrill making those beautiful sounds that it really became an obsession with me. I practice this instrument WAY more often than I ever did on 6 string just because it is so much fun!

I find myself practicing a lot too - not only is it fun, it's handy. Just sit, picks and bar are on it, put them on and play.
And yes - just noodling, improv'ing, the beautiful sounds are everywhere!
