I am wondering if anyone can recommend a source for a lightweight cabinet for a 12 inch speaker. I am considering a Travis Toy 12 inch speaker and don't see any prebuilt cabinets for it. Really want to stay with minimal weight and size and have jacks and terminals built in.

but I am not familiar with the Jupiter speaker - any comments?

I have a TT-12 speaker in one one of these. They are basic but very well made and not expensive. The grille is extra. He has lots of sizes and options, all made in his shop.

Don't have any first hand experience with these and Telonics stuff is not cheap, but another option to consider. I guess you could contact them and see.
I don't know about the weight, but baltic birch is lighter than a lot of materials commonly used in cabinets.
Telonics also has a stellar reputation for customer service. |

I'll second that.
Just bought a very nicely built 2x12 cab from Tommy. It's lightweight, sounds great and is sharply vintage looking (tan tolex w/ oxblood grill cloth).
The total weight of the cab loaded with two TT-12s is 30 lbs. The price was very reasonable. |

| Another endorsement for Tommy Huff cabs. I have a black western tolex cab with a Telonics 15 and a brown western tolex with brown leather handle and oxblood grill on the way. Should arrive next week. This one will have my EPS 15 in it. One set up for pedal steel and one for lap steels. A couple of friends in the area also have cabs made by Tommy Huff. He does beautiful work and he's a great guy to deal with. |

Hey Steven. Just saw this post, so I'm not sure if you've already purchased a cabinet or not. There are quite a few good suggestions on here for speaker cab sources. I'll say this much regarding cabinets...a lot of people don't consider how significantly the actual dimensions of a cabinet affect the tone of the speaker. Just an inch or two difference in height or width can make a HUGE difference in tone. Another often overlooked and very important factor is the size of the cutout, if it's an open back cabinet. Open back cabs are definitely my preference, but it is very important to have the proper amount open. Too much and you lose all the low end. Too little and you get a very boxy low end that doesn't breathe properly.
I have done tons of research with cabinet dimensions, and did extensive testing with different cabinets when we were developing the TT-12. My dimension preference for that speaker is around 16’’ W, 12’’ D, 16’’ H, and you'll want a centered cutout on the back of the cabinet...running the whole width by about 4.5" high.
That being said, I actually just buy the empty open back cabinets from Greg's Pro Audio in California. I think Tom Dillon also mentioned this earlier. His single 12' cabs are the exact dimensions that I prefer for my speaker, so it's an easy solution. Also, if cost is a concern, I haven't found anyone more affordable. He has a ton of different covering options, and has slanted versions as well. I own a ton of different cabinets, but I think I've got at least 5 from Greg's at this point.

So there you go. You can get one from Greg's, or have someone make you one. I'd really recommend those dimensions though as a great sounding cabinet for my speaker.
