Have not seen much chatter on the forum about this amp. To me it looks like a good inexpensive option for steel with a replacement speaker. I see them around for $600. Anybody using these? I've been using my Tone King Comet 40A for gigs where I play steel and six string but could use a bit more headroom and don't have the $$ for a boutique amp.
Also seeing the Port City Pearl around, 50 watts with 6L6, seems viable as well. Any feedback?
Thanks in advance! |

Well, with a hollow body guitar and enough volume...

I don't really know, but I would guess the Port City is better made than the Fender. More like the Tone King. Tone is in the ear of the beholder, yes? _________________ Excel D10 8&4, Supro 8, Regal resonator, Peavey Powerslide, homemade lap 12(a work in progress) |

I have a Supersonic 60 head that I paired with Eminence, JBl and Telonics 15†speakers and it just didn’t cut it, not enough headroom; I think it’s really a guitar amp. You’d be happier with an older, quality amp like a Music Man. I like the amps alone, not combos, because it’s easy to experiment with different speakers and cabs - and they’re lighter to carry. MM amps from the 70’s can be really affordable and are well built. _________________ 2008 Zum D-10, 1996 Mullens PRP D-10, 1974 Emmons D-10, 1976 Emmons D-10, early 70s Emmons GS-10, Milkman Sideman head w/Telonics 15" speaker, 1966 Fender Super Reverb, 1970 Fender Dual Showman head, Wechter/Scheerhorn and Beard Dobros, 1962 Supro lap steels, Gibson 1939 RB-11 banjo, Gibson 1978 RB-250
