Yes George,
Right one according to the Gibson Steel Guitar book.
Should be a good sounding lap steel.
I think that makes it an early one... Or as you said "Old as the hills" like you and me!
Best wishes,
Andy

Hi George,
Just read up a little on these.
The way it's written is a bit confusing but, May be a quite early model.
There is also a photo of one just like yours except it has the control knobs positioned one to the left and one to the right of the pickup. That is from 1937.
Looks like it was made between 1935 an 1938 so if the price is good and it's what you'd like you should grab it.
Andy Very Happy

I just sold a 7 string from 1938 or 1939 (?) This one had the Charlie Christian pick up in it, the notched bar on the top etc. Sold it to Casey Olsen in Hawaii..
Don't know what EH*** model is for that one..

It has a hollow body, built up with wood sections/pieces Were some EH types built a solid bodies ?? Don't know

According to the book, this is the same pickup as the later ones but without the cut blade for the treble strings and the later more fancy bound shape of the bobbin.
Both have the two very long magnets until later when they used a smaller very fat and chunky magnet. You can see both in that opened page of the book.
That is assuming the book has all details right?
I'd love to have a 7 or 8 string version of one of them. They also made a very few 10 strings. Very Happy
