Topic: Can you ID these LKV parts? |

My Mullen's first owner installed an LKV himself -- did a great job mechanically, I might add -- it pulls soft and smooth, and stays in tune great... He used spare or after-market parts of some kind, however, and I'm curious where they might've come from. I know that his main guitars are Zums - any chance these came from a Zum?

| probably not, Zum's have square crossrods - those bellcranks are different to the ones on my Zum as well. |

| Due to all the irregularities I see, they seem to have been made with hand tools, drill, hacksaw, and files. I'm pretty certain I'd be safe saying they were home-made. |

| Interesting, Donny - it's definitely possible that he made these parts. The hairpins are kinda crude, but everything else seems well machined. Of course many of you fellas out there can do that kinda thing - I sure cain't!!! |

I'm a relative newbie (been playing 3 years or so), so the finer points of bell crank design and cross shaft shape are only now coming into focus for me. I've just learned, for instance, that most builders use hex or square cross shafts... That's part of why I got curious about my LKV...
He did a very fine job, and I have *zero* complaints about the lever function -- just wondering who I could attribute this to since it's not a stock Mullen lever... |
