Don Buzard is the only steel player I've ever known Gate to employ. That was in the 1970s-80s, which looks to be about the era of that clip.

Hard to tell behind that mask.

Probably not this guy:

I’m thinking that’s Cal Freeman.

The guy in the clip play's nothing like I remember Don playing. I have no idea who it is. Only it's not Don.

Im friends with the guy playing the horn. Thats Joe Sunseri. He currently runs the New Orleans food and beverage museum. We play events there from time to time.

He mentioned working with gate during that era, and had a ton of funny stories about the band back in the day.

Ill ask him next time I see him.

I also remember another guy who played steel and guitar with gate around that time.

Gate was a real hoot, and really liked the steel.

Gate was so underrated. Unique, one of a kind guitar style. Loved his fiddle playing too.
