Sleepwalk Lyrics, Who knew? Maybe everybody but me! Shocked
Was reading a post by Basil and saw the article about Santo and Johnny and that song. Was there I learned there were words to it written by their mother and sister.
Anyway looked it up on youtube and found this version. I'll link it here for any others who never knew! Embarassed

Hi Kevin,
I moved the topic over to the Steels without pedals page.
Had intended to put it there but screwed up because I did not use my reading glasses.
On the new page I used your cracker thoughts for the French version of Sleep Walk.
Best wishes,
Andy

The Betsy Brye version was released at the same time as the Santo and Johnny version. The record company liked the tune but didn't think an instrumental would sell, so they asked the Farinas to write some words. Their cousin wrote the words and the recording company gave it Betsy Brye, who was contracted to them at the time.

Betsy Brye is still active, and her most requested number is Sleepwalk.

I've always thought that the Betsy Brye recording would sound really good with Santo and Johnny in the background.
My daughter's wedding is coming up next month, and I shall be singing with the band. I'm thinking of singing Sleep Walk and putting the instrumental in the middle.

It's a 20s/30s band, so it should be interesting.

This subject has been discussed many times on the Forum, but, to my mind, the most complete discussion was the one started by Basil Henriques in 2007. (see above)
