I decided to try this with the flu season and thinking that licking my fingers was a bad idea even with frequent hand washing.
Anyone else tried this stuff?
It seems to work as advertised.

Shoot a little hair spray on every so often also helps,,,as your hands sweat a little the spray gets a little sticky,,,or seems to. |

I have used Sticky Picks almost since it came out. It's the best thing I've ever found. And, Wayne Hobbs is a great guy to do business with. |

This topic was discussed here, and comes up every so often.
We talk about using heat shrink tubing instead of any external goo or licking our fingers . Heat shrink tube works great. I personally don't like having to add anything like that stuff/goo to my fingers to get them to stay in place.

I dipped the base of my Jeff Newman finger picks in the rubberized paint. You can buy it at ACE, Lowe's etc. I trimmed some of the rubber coating off the side of the picks that would rub against each other. No problems here anymore with picks sliding off. |

Good move Ken. Just think about sticking your fingers in your mouth after handling door knobs, push plates etc. on your set and bathroom break.
Be interested in your evaluation of this Sticky-Picks stuff after you've had in in use for a while.
If it works as good as Wayne plays, it would be great.
Where did you get yours? The url on the bottle doesn't get you a direct link.
I was able to find it at Amazon. clickhereforstickypicks |

I tend to do things in the most cost effective way. Go to your wife's laundry area and with luck you will find a jug of Sta-flo starch. Also steel a foam scratch pad from under the sink and a small pill bottle from the wife. Cut a small piece of foam and fold it to fit the pill bottle. Mix a 50/50 solution starch/water and place in bottle. To use insert fingers in bottle then place finger picks. The picks will stay on like they are glued on. Replace solution every week or so as it tends to get kind of moldey. I got this recipe from Kenny Radas from Edwardsville Illinois a few years ago. _________________ 2006 Zum D10 8x8,1969 ZB Custom D10,

I used spit for decades, but decided to give thhe vinyl dip a try.
I first dipped the whole back of the tip (tangs and all) but the picks would no longer slide past one another while playing. Next I trimmed the vinyl off of the tangs (which worked well) but the vinyl started peeling off after a week. This recurred on 3 trials.
Finally, I then cut off 3/8" lengths of shrink tubing and workred it onto the base of the pick where the tang meets the underbody & applied it using a heat gun.....................That works perfectly.
Now no spit, goo, friction or peeling vinyl. It's lasted for 6 weeks so far and has mitigated the whole issue of finger-pick slippage/loosenesss. |

Okay here is an observation about this product.
It is possible to have a looser more comfortable fit on your finger picks with this product because of how it works.
I have recently tried and am using angled pro-picks.
PK45-NKL-3 Propik Nickel "Fast Pick" Angled Fingerpick,Single Wrap.
The single wrap is more comfortable and the sticky stuff is a comfort improvement on top of that.
Since I play sort of flat handed it seems like the tone is better with the angled for me.
Most folks lay there hand over and have the picks angled naturally. I believe the sound is better as the picks are angled.
I have all kinds of picks including old nationals and like them all.
It is nice to try things and see the differences between things. Sticky picks works really well for me. |

I have had the same small container of Gorilla Snot (same thing as Pick Honey I think) for years. A tiny bit keeps picks on and the stuff goes a *long* way.
I would not want to spray any kind of material that makes something "stick" anywhere near instruments or furniture! _________________ No chops, but great tone

I decided to try the shrink tubing and the nail polish. I wasn't comfortable with the shrink tubing, but the nail polish seems to be working. I just got up from practice of about half an hour and they didn't slip at all. When I get more time on them I'll be able to tell better how effective the nail polish is.
