Recording King RK35 5 string banjo; maple with a rosewood fretwood. Guardian case has some scuffs, mostly on the bottom edge. Includes a Gold Tone leather cradle strap. The banjo is in near mint condition with no noticeable dings or scratches.

This banjo was bought new and set-up by a well respected local banjo builder (Monte Hendricks). He installed 5th string RR spikes on the 7th & 9th frets. He has done all subsequent servicing, including dressing the frets so the edges are much smoother, and installing a new bone nut with better string spacing. I played it a lot for about 18 months so it has a bit of fret wear, but not enough to do any fret work.

This is a loud, punchy bluegrass banjo that is ready for stage or studio. You will be heard.

$550 plus shipping, or we can meet in the Sacramento area. Also listed on other sites.

SOLD off the banjo forum.

Paul, a great starter banjo or put a pickup on it for the band. Can't beat the price!

The RK35 gets a person's foot in the door of a true bluegrass banjo for under $1000. Not a lot of ornamentation (I like that) but it has the tone ring and 3 ply maple rim of the big boys.

I had a Fishman Rare Earth pickup on this banjo and I played many gigs with a fairly loud country/rock band. It gets the job done. Loud and still sounds like a banjo.

The pickup is no longer on the banjo, but it would be easy to install another.

Great banjo and a great price. I played an RK-80 for the past 6 years and loved it, and this is the same guts as that.
