Erv, it's 78 here in our car port. I almost feel guilty...... almost.

It's been so cold here my .011 string turned into an .09.

a little tip for those of you who have efficient fireplace inserts that I learned the hard way. when we have an extended cold spell, I never light my fireplace. My fireplace is so efficient that i can heat the house up to about 80 degrees with just the fireplace.

The problem is, that means my regular base board water based heating system doesn't go on. No action in the pipes causes the pipes to freeze. Now I keep the regular hearting going so the water keeps moving.

We've had our insert going non-stop well over a week. Gas furnace supplements what the fireplace does contributes.

Just be careful that your gas furnace is still pumping some heat. My pipes burst last year because I didn't have the gas heater high enough to keep going above the fireplace insert.
