| Thanks Jim,,,saw one on CL (cheap!) and thought it might make a pretty good grab and go amp. Guess a new light weight speaker would take 6-7 lbs off that? Wonder if anyone has tried one with a TT12 in it? |

Sonny,
Funny you should ask. I just finished installing a TT-12 in my Bandit 65. I recently bought the amp. It had a no-name speaker in it and sounded absolutely terrible. I thought about giving up on it, but thought, "What the heck?" I cabled from my steel through my Hilton volume pedal, straight to the amp, using the amp's reverb as the only effect. I was pleasantly surprised. Then I ran through my Black Box - even better. I'm not saying it's up there with my favorite setup, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it as a grab-and-go amp. It weighs 38 pounds on my bathroom scale.
One thing to keep in mind, I couldn't fully re-seat the grille cover when I reinstalled it. Because the Bandit has a front mount speaker, I found the TT-12's speaker frame thick enough that the backboard for the Peavey logo on the inside of the grille would not let it sit all the way down against the velcro at the corners. It doesn't seem to be a problem, just so ya know. |

I used to live in Washington State... there was a player that came to the jams we had on Saturday in Arlington, WA & he had a Bandit Amp... The guy was phenomenal & that amp was the best sound I ever heard. I had a Twin at the time, but I couldn't make it sound as good as that Bandit... I'm sure he had a lot to do with it.

My '96 Bandit with the stock Sheffield speaker weighs 50 lbs.

Yes, I was my nephews "Silver Stripe" 112 combo. It had the good sense to jump out of the back of the truck, while he took an unplanned shortcut down one of our mountain roads! The cab was destroyed, but like a Timex, it was still ticking!
After we lost him, I ended up with it, and decided to remake it a little special. I did replace the PS caps, and front panel jacks, and installed Burr-Brown chips. It sounds great! (I also replace the speaker, it wasn't damaged from the fall, but my nephews "music".)
