Many years ago, I saw an old D10 Sho-Bud sitting in a music store. One of the first things that I noticed were the end plates. On the part of the end plate that curves around the front apron, each one had an engraving. One had an engraving of a heart, and the other had an engraving of a spade. There were a couple more Sho-Buds in the store, both old looking, but with no engraving. Was the engraved end plates the work of a private owner, or did Sho-Bud make a few this way? Thank you.

Yes Sho~bud NEVER engraved the endplates. That sounds like privately done.

Thank you, Ricky. I have another question, please. I saw another Sho-Bud that had "Dist. by Baldwin" on the right -hand side (facing the guitar) of the front apron. What era guitar would this be, and would it be considered a good one? Thanks again.

In the late 60's; Sho~bud got an endorsement by Baldwin; and so they designed a series of pedal steels for their endorsement and that was mainly the "Crossover" series which featured the two neck tuning to switch the pedals and knees to pull each neck individually.
The design was very much different from regular Pro Model Sho~bud and actually didn't last long....probably only a few years.
