Sharon certainly has an understanding of the instrument. Her grasp and automatic way of locating the correct strings and positions for playing are impressive, especially for her age. Sharon’s right hand posture is correct and very similar to the master Buddy Emmons, however, her left hand bar technique should be corrected now, as to avoid pitch problems and to gain bar control. Paul Franklin has exquisite lessons on this subject. I would also suggest she practice with a metronome or some type of tempo controlled device. There are many free apps for this.
I know you didn’t ask my advice, however, I do hear talent and intelligence in your daughter’s playing. Her success will be such a wonderful gift to the pedal steel community and may very well help it survive another era. Please let me know if I can help in her progress.

Thanks so much! Yes, Sharon has been shown proper left hand technique but seems to lack strength for the bar with her left hand, that needs work. Timing will also need further accuracy. Did you notice she plays without picks? we couldn't get them to fit her small fingers a couple of years ago and out of frustration I told her to just play without them and so at least, things got started.
