At the Scotty's, in 1981, someone sang "Middle Age Crazy". Does anyone remember who it was and who played steel for him?

Well, I don't remember. I have the program here, but I can't see any names that jog any memories of that. No vocal guests are mentioned in the program. Just the featured steel spots, back up band and guest musicians.

Says here the Sound Factory was in concert on Fri. nite until 1 AM featuring the Big E. Those names are listed as well, but I'm not seeing a singer there either.

Thanks Jerry, The singer might have been a guest artist with the Sound Factory. Could have been Chuck Rowell who sang that. Hoot Hester and Wade Ray playing fiddles.

Don't see Chuck's name there, but this was just the pre scheduled lineup. There were always changes etc.

Maybe you can make out the names from this photo of the program. Don't know if it's any help though.

I remember also that Buddy was doing something on a soundboard. Maybe he was recording a tape for a 45 record.
What a lineup, Jerry!

I’m thinking it was Willie Rainsford with the Nashville Superpickers.

Here's a better shot of the Sound Factory members with Buddy.

I believe the Nashville SuperPickers was a different group. I do remember Willie with Jim Vest's Nashville Cats, I think that's the band name, in Nashville around 1980. First time I ever heard Elvira. Powerful voice.

Anything might have happened at the Convention though. They stuck pretty close to the schedule, but there were always exceptions as I recall.

Might it have been a different year?

I think Buddy did do an ISGC with the SuperPickers however but I don't remember which one.

Hi Chris -

Hoot Hester sang it on Friday night as part of Buddy's 1982 Configuration of "The Sound Factory"

with

Phil Baugh, Guitar
David Smith, Bass
Roger Morris, Keys
Hoot Hester, Fiddle
Randy Houser, Drums

On Sunday's set is when Jeff Newman brought the chainsaw on stage again.

Nashville SuperPickers: Yeaboy!

I saved a bunch of these old programs. It's fun to look back at them. Great memories of those magical times.
