Definitely Keith Whitley, but it's Doug Jernigan on steel. This is from the J.D. Crowe album "My Home Ain't In The Hall Of Fame". I pretty much wore my original LP out back then and had to buy it again.
I know some hardcore bluegrassers are gonna argue, but IMO this record was absolutely groundbreaking. Of course, that's something that J.D.'s bands seemed to do regularly back then. I mean, how do ya' follow his 1975 "New South" album featuring Tony Rice, Ricky Skaggs, and Jerry Douglas? Well, get Keith Whitley, Jimmy Gaudreau, and Doug Jernigan. |

Dave, you got it! And I agree on everything you said. Keith Whitley was definitely a singer of his own and sounded good in all kinds of music. And Doug, well, what can you say that hasn't already been said...
